Beyond Master Scuba Diver

In an earlier blog, I explained the difference between Divemaster and Master Scuba Diver. Master Scuba Diver is a non-professional rating that PADI gives to recreational divers who complete five PADI specialties, Rescue Diver and at least 50 logged open water dives. For decades, Master Scuba Diver has been the highest rating PADI gave to non-professionals.
This is now changing.
In the spring of 2019, Aquatic Adventures and PADI teamed up to put together a program that challenges our best divers to reach even higher. The new program, called Beyond Master Scuba Diver, rewards divers for taking 10, 15, and 20 specialties while logging up to 150 open water dives. Stars are issued for each Master Scuba Diver rating to recognize these accomplishments.
What it takes to earn a Star
Beyond Master Scuba Diver is open to any PADI diver who possesses a Master Scuba Diver rating. Once you have achieved Master Scuba Diver, you can earn the following star ratings:
- Two Star Master Scuba Diver: Complete 10 PADI Specialties with 25 additional open water dives (75 minimum).
- Three Star Master Scuba Diver: Complete 15 PADI Specialties with 25 additional open water dives (100 minimum).
- Four Star Master Scuba Diver: Complete 20 PADI Specialties with 25 additional open water dives (125 minimum).
- Five Star Master Scuba Diver Tech Diver: Complete 20 PADI Specialties, Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50 with 25 additional open water dives (150 minimum).
Divers who qualify for one of these levels should email Aquatic Adventures at training@diveaai.com. Aquatic Adventures will review your certifications and check your logbook. Once we have determined that you qualify for a Beyond Master Scuba Diver recognition, we will submit your application to PADI. Currently there is no fee to apply.
Those qualifying for a star rating will receive an official certificate of achievement from PADI. In addition, Aquatic Adventures will give away an Oceanic GEO 4.0 dive computer to one lucky diver who earns a Beyond Master Scuba Diver rating in 2019. Anyone earning a Beyond Master Scuba Diver rating through Aquatic Adventures will automatically be entered to win.
