What You Experience in the Discover PRISM Rebreather Course
The Discover Rebreather program gives you the opportunity to dive with a closed circuit rebreather (CCR) in a pool under the direct supervision of a PADI Rebreather Instructor. At Aquatic Adventures, our CCR training features the Hollis Prism 2 rebreather. The Prism 2 is a type T CCR, meaning it is a technical diving rebreather suitable for dives below 40 meters/130 feet. The Prism 2 is also the CCR unit you train with in our Tec 40 CCR course.
During our Discover Rebreather experience, you wil attend a short classroom session where we will introduce you to closed-circuit rebreather diving and the Hollis PRISM 2. We will explain how rebreathers work and the unique features of the PRISM 2. We will also explain how the heads up display (HUD) and controller work and how you will control your buoyancy in the water.
Then it's off to the pool where you will get to experience how quiet and peaceful rebreather diving is. Our PADI Rebreather Instructor will review basic safety and operational instructions, adjust your unit, and get you comfortable before letting you swim around and explore.
Who Should Consider the Discover PRISM Rebreather Course
Any PADI Open Water Diver who is at least 18 years old, has 15 logged dives, and is interested in taking our Tec 40 CCR course should consider registering for our Discover Rebreather experience. This is an ideal opportunity to give the PRISM 2 a try before you sign up for the full course. Or, if you are already a rebreather diver but you were trained on a different CCR, this is an excellent time for you to find out firsthand the benefits of diving the PRISM 2.
What You Need to Bring
You will want to bring the following to your Discover Rebreather pool dive:
- Swimming Suit
- Towel
- Dive mask
- Fins (and boots if needed)
- Exposure suit (if desired)
Aquatic Adventures will supply the rebreather for you to use.
