At the heart of the system is the FDXi over-balanced diaphragm first stage, which automatically increases intermediate pressure as depth increases. This ensures consistent breathing performance throughout the dive while the environmentally sealed design protects internal components from salt, sand, and other contaminants. The pneumatically balanced ZEO second stage features Oceanic’s patented Dynamic Adjustment Technology, maintaining consistent inhalation effort regardless of depth or tank pressure. A diver-adjustable inhalation knob and an Adjustable Venturi Switch (AVS) allow precise control over airflow and help prevent free-flow on the surface. Comfort is enhanced with an inline ball swivel and orthodontic mouthpiece, which reduces jaw fatigue during long dives. The regulator also uses a durable chrome-plated marine brass metal valve, improving cold-water performance and helping retain moisture from exhaled air to reduce dry mouth.
