What The Course Covers

We as snorkelers and divers spend a great deal of time in the water. Often we are the first to see the short term and long term changes in the aquatic environment. This makes us uniquely qualified to call attention to the threats that the underwater world faces. Of course, we also have an important responsibility to protect the aquatic environment whenever we interact with it. Through classroom discussions you will learn:

• How PADI AWARE unites scuba divers and water enthusiasts to make a difference
• About environmental issues in the ocean commons and coastal zones
• About fisheries challenges and sustainability problems
• What’s happening to coral reefs and reef inhabitants
• Your role in protecting aquatic environments

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this class! Divers, snorkelers, and anyone who loves the water will benefit from taking this class.

Continue your education about our underwater world by taking the AWARE Fish ID and AWARE Coral Reef Conservation classes. You may also want to brush up on your underwater photography skills so that you can document and capture images of the conditions of the reefs and species you’re encountering.

What's Included in the Course

Your PADI AWARE class will include the following:

• The PADI AWARE eLearning Online Course
• One academic session (normally about 2 hours) lead by one of our PADI instructors familiar with the snorkeling and diving coral reefs around the world
• Your PADI AWARE Speciality certification and eCard that recognizes your commitment as a snorkeler or diver to helping to conserve our underwater environment both at home and abroad.
